Aboutchelseapark barbers

SHOP-37My name is Gabriel and I am the founder of Chelsea Park Barbers. We have been around since 2008 and are proud to say that we are moving forward in our goals and accomplishments. It is hard to believe that so much has happened since I began my career.  As a young 17 years old straight out of high school, I didn’t know what to do with my life and how to earn an honest living. I realized I needed to make moves to survive.

My Dad, G-d bless him, sat me down and started giving me the father and son talk. He asked me if I wanted to go to college and I responded by telling him to save his money.  So he started giving me different trades or skills I should look into learning. He started mentioning to me all the skills that he was familiar with which were basically all the popular skills/trades from back home in Uzbekistan. Most were Cab drivers, Jewelers, Shoe Repair, Barbering, etc. Being a barber caught my attention first because I had some friends and family members who were barbers themselves. Without hesitation I started moving forward with my plan and went to barber school. After barber school the first 6 months were very rough because it was not really coming together for me. I thought to myself, “what did I get myself into am I just wasting my time?”. After jumping from one barber shop to another trying to find the right establishment where I could perfect my craft, I finally found my first official shop in downtown Manhattan, right on Fulton Street, where I spent almost 3 years working as a barber.

I started to think about opening up a shop when I was turning 20 years old, in my eyes I was physically and mentally stable to move forward with my idea. The next step was to find a location. At the time it was hard and expensive for me. Until one day I walked into my dads Shoe Repair Shop and started looking around his work shop and had an amazing idea. I asked my father what he thought about me opening up a Barber shop  right there in the shoe repair shop. He looked at me and said “Hey if you can make it happen, go ahead”. Finally. in January of 2008. the idea came to fruition and I was proud owner of Chelsea Park Barbers.
